Force '06 Girls win over Eastside FC — March 25, 2018

This is the very first State Cup appearance for our Force ‘06 Girls, and it was their first ever win in a State Cup match, and well deserved. Force had several other goal scoring chances that just didn’t go in, but so did Eastside. It was a hard fought battle by both teams all game long, and well played by both sides. But at the final whistle it was Force who came out on top.

Especially significant was the fact that the single deciding goal was the first one of the season by left winger Satine Watts off of a great cross by forward Delaney Richards.

Eastside FC is an RCL club, meaning they are much bigger than PSA Force, and have a much larger talent pool with numerous teams at each age bracket. This particular Eastside team played in RCL Division 3 last Fall. It’s exciting to see how well our little club is able to compete against much larger RCL clubs with a lot of very talented players.

The Force ‘06 Girls now have 3 points cumulatively after losing their first match to the Whatcom FC Rangers on Saturday in another close battle that finished 0-2 after a 0-1 halftime score. WFC, another RCL Division 3 team, managed to put another one in the net with just a couple minutes to go in the game off of a quick counterattack following a failed attempt by the Force ‘06 Girls to score the equalizer on the other end. However, the outcome of this game could have easily swung the other way had Force been able to capitalize on some near misses from a couple of great shots by center midfielders Maleah Kirk and Aidyn McIntosh.

With two more games to go in the preliminary round, the Force ‘06 Girls are poised to compete and hopefully advance out of their bracket and into the quarterfinals. But they will likely need two more victories to seal their fate and advance.
